Entertaiment may seem to be solely about fun and laughter, but many activities have a serious purpose. What might be considered entertainment by one group or individual may be a ritual, religious festival or satire for another. Similarly, something that might be regarded as entertainment for children may prepare them for adult responsibilities or social interaction (1,2,3,4). The Scheherazade story from the professional storytelling tradition, for example, inspired a range of different media including orchestral works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, a film by Pasolini, and an innovative video game (8).
